Abstract

Biomarkers can be used to, at least partly, explain underlying mechanisms of a symptom or condition as in the article by Girisgen et al. where both non-monosymptomatic and monosymptomatic bedwetting are the topic of investigation [1]. During the last 3-4 decades, there have been several studies showing that in the normal prepubertal child, the lowering of the nighttime diuresis is accompanied by a nightly increase in plasma arginine-vasopressin (AVP) with a peak in the first third of the night [2].
