Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition that can reach the end stage of renal disease (ESRD). It is important to be able to identify the people with a high risk of progression of CKD and the cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) associated with it. The proteinuria is the most sensitive marker of CKD progression in clinical practice, especially when it is combined with eGFR, but there are some limitations. Promising specific and highly selective biomarkers associated with the early detection and prevention of CKD have been identified. Quality of life (QoL) for these patients is very important and is connected with functional activity, well-being, general perception of health in its physical, psychological and social aspect. Malnutrition observed in patients with CKD, a change in the rhythm of daily life, also contributes significantly to their poor quality of life.
