Abstract

In a recent paper in Forum, Laskowski (1991) points out that persistent chemicals (PC) need not necessarily be magnified during their passage through food chains, and illustrates this notion with field data on cadmium and copper. I have previously come to the same conclusion (Fagerstrom 1979) using purely theoretical reasoning, but, regrettably, published the results in a place that is unlikely to reach a broader audience. The purpose of this paper, therefore, is simply to repeat these arguments in a slightly revised form thereby hopefully adding more generality to the important work by Laskowski (1991)
