Abstract

Studies were conducted on the endoparasitoid Ganaspidium utilis Beardsley (Hymenoptera: Eucoilidae) to determine its biology when Liriomyza sativae Blanchard (Diptera: Agromyzidae) is a host. Eggs were deposited in host larvae and parasitoid larval development (four instars) started after host pupation. Mean developmental time from egg to adult was 25.9 (SEM ± 1.4) d at 26 ± 1°C. Total mean number of progeny produced was 51.4 (SEM ± 13.8) individuals per female when 20 leafminer larvae were provided daily. The sex ratio was 1:1.39, males/females. Mean adult longevity was not significantly different for males (8.8 d) and females (8.9 d).
