Abstract

Tumor biology and etiology in adult and childhood tumors differ. Not only tumor types and frequency differ, but also the pathogenetic origin and genetic factors in malignant childhood tumors are unlike those in adult cancer. While pediatric tumors develop mainly due to a mislead embryogenesis, epithelial tumors and other adult-type tumors show more complex genetic alterations. Due to its rarity and therefore missing biological studies, little is known about the etiopathogenesis and biology of adult-type tumors unfrequently occurring in pediatric age.KeywordsTumor biologyEtiologyPathogenesisTranslocation-triggered carcinomasCarcinogenTumor predisposition
