Abstract

Objective: Biflavonoids are the flavonoidal class chemical found to be present in the Ginkgo biloba and the best examples are sciadopitysin. Scientific study has proven the biological potential of sciadopitysin against diabetes and its complications. Methods: Medicinal importance and therapeutic potential of sciadopitysin have been investigated through scientific data analysis of various research works in the present investigation. Biological importance of sciadopitysin in myocardial infarction (MI) has been investigated through scientific data analysis of current scientific research work. Biological importance of creatine kinase-MB and lactate dehydrogenase activities in the myocardial infarction has been investigated through scientific research work data analysis. Biological importance of sciadopitysin on pancreatic lipase has been also investigated through scientific data analysis of current scientific research work. Results: Scientific data analysis revealed the biological potential of sciadopitysin in the medicine due their therapeutic benefit and pharmacological activities against myocardial infarction as it showed to prevent myocardial necrosis via reducing the levels of creatine kinase-MB and lactate dehydrogenase activities. It also showed to improve myocardial ability and decrease infarct volume. Sciadopitysin causes reduction in oxidative stress via enhancing the levels of glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase, while reducing the level of myeloperoxidase and malondialdehyde. Scientific data analysis revealed the moderate inhibitory effects of sciadopitysin on pancreatic lipase which provided a supportive evidence for their hypolipidemic effects in the medicine. Conclusion: Scientific data analysis of current scientific research work revealed the biological importance and therapeutic benefit of sciadopitysin in the medicine.
