Abstract

The context in which fieldwork takes place and the emphasis placed on it by teachers, as well as the type of activities undertaken, are likely to be important factors affecting the attitudes of pupils to this aspect of biological education. In this study over 600 pupils taking Advanced level biology in more than 130 schools provided a sample which was used to investigate the relationship between the attitudes shown towards fieldwork by pupils and certain factors associated with fieldwork teaching in schools.
