Abstract

BS>Data are reported on translocation and dominant lethal damage produced in the spermatogenic cycle of Drosophila virilis by exposure to 200 kv x rays, 22 Mv x rays from a betatron source, and gamma rays from a cobalt-60 source. Among postmeiotic cells both dominant and lethal translocations were produced with a higher frequency in spermatids than in sperm. A comparison was made of the relative biological efficiency of the three types of radiation. (C.H.)
