Fir clubmoss Huperzia selago growing in Europe is a rich source of Huperzine A (selagine, HupA)(1.59mg g -1 d.w.) an effective, reversible and selective acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor, undergoing clinical trials as a potential medicine in Alzheimer disease and schizophrenia.
