Abstract

Summary Studies by autoradiographic immunoelectrophoresis demonstrate the presence of a single antibody in canine nonprecipitating antiserum and two antibodies in canine precipitating antiserum. The nonprecipitating antibody is a faster migrating globulin present singly in nonprecipitating antiserum but associated with a slower migrating precipitating antibody in precipitating antiserum. The nonprecipitating antiserum results in initial immune retention of antigen in the circulation of a passively sensitized animal followed by immune elimination of soluble nonprecipitating antibody-antigen complexes. Nonprecipitating antibody did not result in passive sensitization of guinea pigs for systemic anaphylaxis or cutaneous anaphylaxis or Arthus reactions.
