Abstract
I am Drew K Swindells, 70 years old and I live in Buckinghamshire in the UK. I’ve been writing poetry for around three years when my girlfriend at the time got me interested.Since then I’ve developed my voice and write mainly about mental health, love, and love lost. I was diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder a long time ago and draw on my experiences and feelings. I use a pen name sometimes ‘the manic poet’ and I also introduce the semi colon into my work (it’s a mental health symbol meaning survival), also ‘gold and silver’ makes some appearances. Through poetry I can express difficult thoughts and feelings.
