Abstract

AbstractGrid Integration using Hybrid Renewable Energy Sources is rapidly growing its importance to meet the energy demand. This design creates mainly Power Quality issues (PQ) due to the existence of nonlinear loads. To solve the PQ problems and compensate for the issues, this paper proposes Biogeography-Based Optimization (BBO) controller with Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC). The performance of the proposed method is compared with the existing methods like Genetic Algorithm (GA), Genetic Search Algorithm (GSA) with PI controller and obtained the best results in terms of total harmonic distortions (THD).
