In article 2200178 Hidehisa Takahashi and colleagues take a closer look at one of the subunits of this complex, namely MED26. MED26 is involved in recruiting the super elongation complex (SEC) to polyadenylated genes and little elongation complex (LEC) to non-polyadenylated genes. LEC recruitment is accompanied by the association between two nuclear bodies: Cajal bodies and histone locus bodies. Based on these observations, the authors hypothesize that MED26-containing Mediator, via its disordered region, orchestrates multiple transcription processes through the organization of nuclear bodies.
