Abstract
Statement of the Problem: The use of biodegradable fixation devices, bone plates, and screws in craniomaxillofacial reconstructive surgery is evolving with a great deal of promise for improved outcomes. Patients undergoing craniomaxillofacial reconstructive procedures need to be informed of the safety, efficacy, and patient acceptance of using resorbable fixation devices for these applications as compared to titanium fixation devices.
