Abstract

The pre-eminence of surfactants in flexible usability has amplified many folds in recent years for its exclusiveness and diversity in amphiphilic molecular framework. In the same proportion, synthesis of surfactants have also been increased. Therefore, synthesis of non-toxic and naturally degradable green surfactants have become a prime importance in the synthetic field to maintain sustainability of the products. In this connection, evaluation of biodegradability and biocompatibility; and synthesis of different green surfactants starting from suitable precursors, especially renewable natural sources, have been focused in this review.
