Abstract

Biosensors are biological detection systems used for the analysis of chemicals with the help of biological species like enzymes, antibodies, etc. Nanoflowers for the detection of the glucose improve stability, strength and reduce mass transfer limitations. The main objective of the research work was to develop bioconjugated nanoflowers for effective and precise detection of the glucose in the saliva. Magnetic nanoparticles of iron oxide-chitosan-tripolyphosphate-calcium were used to develop hybrid scaffold like structure with proteins. The particle size of the nanoflowers were found to be range of 300-600 nm with zeta potential -15 to -24 mV. Spherical shape of nanoflowers were observed with scanning electron microscopy studies. The nanoflowers estimated glucose quickly and precisely in the concentration range of 0.2-300 mg/dl from saliva using fluorimeter. Bioconjugated nanoflowers hold futuristic approach for efficient, accurate and non-invasive technique for the detection of glucose.
