Abstract

The Hellenic Biochemical and Biophysical Society (HBBS)was founded in 1971 by 23 biochemists and biophysicists, andin 1999 was renamed as Hellenic Society of Biochemistry andMolecular Biology (HSBMB). The number of its members hasenormously increased since then, mainly after it was renamedto include molecular biologists, and when it managed to providemore effective communication between its members. The majorgoal of its founding members to make it one of the most impor-tant scientific communities in Greece has been achieved, andtoday HSBMB has the ambition to play important role(s) in thescientific life of the country.
