Abstract
Taxonomy of fungi is based classically on the morphology of sexual reproductive structures. Most fungi of medical importance lack these structures and are included within the broad heterogeneous class Fungi Imperfecti. Taxonomy of fungi in this class is based principally on the morphology of asexual spores. The taxonomic reliability of this latter criterion has been questioned ( 1 ).
