Abstract

1. 1. Three electrophoretically separable isozymes of α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase are observed in extracts of adult mosquitos ( Culex pipiens). 2. 2. The tissue distribution and ontogeny of these isozymes is examined and discussed with changing functional requirements of the various tissues. 3. 3. The adult and larval isozymes were partially purified, and found to be similar with respect to molecular weight, pH optimum. 4. 4. The adult and larval α-GPDH isozymes differ with respect to K m (dihydroxyacetone phosphate and reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and thermal stability.
