Abstract

SUMMARYA comparative study of the isoenzymes involved in sugar and organic acid metabolism was made during long‐term storage of Sleaford Abundance, a poor storing tomato cultivar, and several breeding lines selected for fruit firmness or retarded ripening. Of the enzymes investigated, major changes occurred in hexokinase, enzymes of the hexose monophosphate shunt, NADH and NADPH dehydrogenase during storage but no major differences in the patterns of enzyme change were detected between cultivars.
