Abstract

In recent years a new arsenal of biochemical and immunological techniques has been developed to probe the biochemical function of the nervous system. This paper describes some of these techniques and indicates how they are being used within the auditory nervous system. These techniques provide the possibility of understanding the generation of neural activity within single neural elements of the auditory system.
