Abstract
Particularly in difficult bone situations, dental implants are able to expand their indications by osteoinductive coatings. The transfer of nucleic acids enables strengthening the bodýs own cell production of particular or combined cytokines like bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) and transforming growth factor-beta or insulin-like growth factor without the drawbacks of direct applications of recombinant proteins. Until now, central issue of bioactive surfaces has been stability and release behaviour.
