The lignan sesamin, the N-isobutylamide γ-sanshool, the acridone alkaloids 1-hydroxy-3-methoxy-N-methylacridone, arborinine and xanthoxoline, and the previously unreported 1-hydroxy-3-methoxyacridone have been isolated by bioactivity-guided fractionation (brine shrimp test) from the bark of the medicinal African plant Fagara macrophylla. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
