Abstract

A chemical investigation of the Red Sea soft coral Sarcophyton glaucum has led to the isolation of two new cembranoid diterpenes, (2, 6) and, one new natural cembranoid (3), as well as three known compounds, Sarcophine (1), (+)-7α,8β-dihydroxydeepoxy sarcophine (4) and Sarcophytolide (5). Structure elucidation was achieved using spectroscopic techniques, including 1D and 2D NMR and HRMS. The antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of the isolates were evaluated.
