Binuclear and mononuclear mixed ligand complexes of iron(III) with thiocyanate and aromatic di-imines

Abstract

The isolation and characterization of the following oxygen-bridged binuclear and mononuclear complexes of iron(III) are described: Fe 2(phen) 4O(NCS) 4, Fe 2(bipy) 4OBr 4, Fe 2(bipy) 4OCl 4, Fe 2(bipy) 4O(NCS) 4, [Fe(phen) 2(NCS) 2](NCS), and [Fe(bipy) 2(NCS) 2](NCS). The isolation of these complexes invalidates the claim by Driver and Walker[6] that these complexes could not be prepared.
