Abstract

The tensor component in the modified Harndon and Tang ΛN potential (MHT) is found to increase the binding of a Λ particle in nuclear matter by about 5 MeV. A comparison with a pure central ΛN potential of similar low energy Λp scattering parameters as the MHT potential gives about 2 MeV for the tensor suppression effect.
