Abstract

Available data concerning the phase equilibria in the rare earth vanadium binary systems were accumulated and evaluated. The atypical Sc-V, Y-V, Ce-V, Eu-V and Y-V systems were deleted. The experimental data for each of the remaining systems was then used to evaluate an initial set of interaction parameters. Refined parameters were developed by plotting the initial parameters against the atomic numbers of the rare earths and smoothing the trends. These refined parameters were then used to calculate phase equilibria for the various systems. The refined parameters show quite good agreement with estimated values generated by the Mi edema approximations.
