Abstract

Applying the binary collision expansion to the memory functions of time correlation functions leads to an improved approximation relative to the direct expansion of the correlation functions. The method, applicable to any two-body interaction potential, should prove useful in studying the short-time memory effects of uncorrelated binary collisions.
