Abstract

AbstractBinaphthyl salophen crown ethers 1 and 2, containing an immobilized electrophilic uranyl cation, were synthesized by cyclization of dialdehyde 10 with 1,2‐benzenediamine (14) or cis‐1,2‐cyclohexanediamine (15), respectively, in the presence of Ba2+ as a template ion and subsequent transmetallation with UO22+. Solid complexes of urea and 1 and 2 were isolated. Molecular‐mechanics calculations show that the geometry of 1 and 2 is suitable for the introduction of functional groups close to the cavity of the metallomacrocycles.
