Abstract

AbstractA fast flow reactor with a differentially pumped, double cone molecular beam inlet system into a quadrupole mass spectrometer is described. The total rate constants of the reactions F + CH3I, k2 = (1.68 ± 0.3) · 10−10 cm3 s−1 and F + CH2I2, k3 = (2.0±0.2)· 10−10 cm3 s−1 were measured at room temperature in this apparatus. The branching ratios for the HF and IF forming channels were determined in each case and consecutive processes are discussed.
