Abstract

The well-controlled polymerization of methyl methacryalte with a preformed bimetallic samarium (III) catalyst and a bisinitiator generated in situ from Cp * Sm.THF 2 is described. A third bimetallic complex polymerizes e-caprolactone. This system incorporates both the high activity and versatility of lanthanide catalysts and the unique advantages of bisinitiating polymerization systems and can be used to produce triblock and link-functionalized polymers
