Abstract

A new ligand containing an ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) core and four amidopyridines was synthesized for the first time and was shown capable of forming bimetallic species (MnII/ZnII/CoII), which were further assembled into one- and two-dimensional coordination frameworks. The bimetallic cluster contains six uncoordinated pyridine units for the propagation of coordination networks. These clusters have shown the ability to form one- and two-dimensional coordination networks by linking up with additional transition-metal centers.
