Abstract

BIMA Array observations of the 107 GHz CH3OH masers in the Cep A star-forming region have been carried out with 2'' resolution. These are the first interferometric observations of 107 GHz CH3OH masers. Two masers were observed. They are both projected near (200 and 500 AU) an ultracompact H II region/radio jet, confirming that they are class II masers. While the 107 GHz masers are positionally coincident with the 12.2 GHz CH3OH masers to within the uncertainties, these two maser groups (both of which belong to class II) are at different velocities, indicating that they are not cospatial. This suggests that the pumping requirements of 12.2 and 107 GHz masers are slightly different, and therefore suggests that these masers reside in regions with slightly different physical characteristics.
