Abstract

In the development of Transit-oriented Areas (TOD), infrastructure development including building construction is the most crucial stage due to the large value of investment in this sector. However, some facts convey that the performance of construction projects is still very low, both in terms of cost, quality, time, and service level. This is happened partly due to the character of construction projects that have high risks and high uncertainties, involve many stakeholders, and go through various stages. Various attempts are made to improve the performance of the project, including utilizing BIM in overcoming various problems that arise due to the distinctive character of the construction project and the temporary nature of the project. The implementation of BIM in the observed case study shows that BIM as a system can contribute to improve the communication system between stakeholders, help identify risks, and help ensure all information can be conveyed properly at each transition stage of the project.
