Abstract
Building information modeling is a complex process of building a computer simulation model of an object. Information modeling creates a database for the building. The information is supplemented with the results of model calculations of object parameters. For example: internal volume, amount of energy needed for heating or lighting. The article considers an example of information modeling of a building - the «Academy» house of culture for the purpose of studying the natural illumination of the building and determining its optimal location relative to the cardinal directions. There is evidence that the position of the building does not provide the maximum natural insolation of the interior. Calculations were made to determine the total values of solar illumination of the building. The dependence of the building's energy efficiency on its natural illumination is shown. Conclusions about the need to use BIM design technologies when creating building projects to ensure maximum natural illumination of premises and increase their investment attractiveness are made.
