Abstract
The purpose of this study was to improve and enhance the constructability of BIM, by suggesting a configuration of BIM template to quickly produce comprehensible shop drawings for domestic MEP/FP construction. Shop drawings that describe how the building and system components will be fabricated and installed during the construction should graphically depict dimension, specification, location of an element, and spacing and joint method between elements as accurately and precisely as possible. Thus, geometry information of model element and topology information between model elements, should be clearly defined in a MEP/FP BIM template. Specifically, construction specification and client’s requirement should be quantitative defined in advance, and then material and routing settings of the template should be customized with them, rather than using system defaults. While some elements can be modeled at LOD 300, the suggested elements and devices shall be defined at LOD 350.
