Abstract

Health care is the most dangerous field of work due to workplace violence, a National Nurses United (NNU) press release stated. In nationwide surveys conducted by NNU, the nation's largest union of registered nurses (RNs), the majority of nurses (81.6%) reported having experienced at least one incident of workplace violence within the past year. NNU members said this is unacceptable and strongly support passage of the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act, officially introduced in Congress April 18 by Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D‐Wis.) and Rep. Joe Courtney (D‐Conn.).
