Abstract

It must be nice to be able to walk into any city in the world and know that you are welcome either because you are a superb physician, cultured historian, or an outstanding squash player—or all three, in the case of William Bean! We certainly love his visits to London, and the portals of many exclusive clubs are always open to him and his wife Gail. Here, then, is a brief profile of some of his clubs, written with the hope that some young reader will follow in his footsteps and also learn to enjoy these old medical establishments where he has given and received so much pleasure. <h3>The Osler Club of London</h3> Dr. William Bean is an honorary member who has delivered a distinguished Osier Oration to the Osler Club of London.
