Abstract

A 21-year-old female patient underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy with subsequent elevation ofbilirubin postoperatively. An ERCP revealed that a surgical clip (Liga clip) had been placed across the common bile duct resulting in a high-grade stricture. A biliary stent was placed across this lesion, and the patient subsequently went to surgery. The clip was removed at open Iaparotomy ten days after the original surgery. A followup ERCP at four months revealed no evidence o f a stricture after the stent was removed. A five-year foUowup of this patient revealed that the patient had normal liver function tests (TBIL0.8, GGT-10, ALP-60). There are no apparent sequelae of the common bile duct injury.
