Abstract

The main biliary adverse event after orthotopic liver transplantation is anastomotic stricture. Balloon dilation, associated or not with plastic stents, multiple plastic stents, or, recently, self-expandable metal stents, are options for stricture management. The recurrence rate for treatment with multiple stents reaches 18%, mainly between 6 and 24 months after stent removal. A 59-year-old woman submitted to liver transplantation 3.5 years earlier because of cryptogenic cirrhosis. She developed an increase in liver function test values 1.5 years after the procedure, and endoscopic treatment of the stricture was opted.
