Abstract

This article offers a review of the significance of early diagnosis of neonatal jaundice through a case study of biliary atresia. It defines the expert parent and draws attention to the supporting role of health visitors when working with parental expertise. The article discusses the importance of early diagnosis of neonatal jaundice and the relevance of communication links between parents and professionals. In this case study, the parents have offered their perspective on the essential need for the right type of early support when dealing with the challenge of an infant who was seriously ill.
