Abstract
Sleeve fractures of the patella are relatively rare in the paediatric population. They can be missed in the initial evaluation of the knee due to the relative rarity, minimal radiological findings and an intact extension function of the knee in the majority of patients. Only one case is reported in the English literature on bilateral simultaneous sleeve fracture in a child with secondary hyperparathyroidism. To the authors’ best knowledge, concomitant bilateral patellar sleeve fracture in an otherwise fit and healthy child has not been described before.
