Abstract

We present a 46-year-old man with two recurrent pterygia on the temporal and nasal side in his right eye. We excised both sides of the pterygia, and then transplanted an amniotic membrane graft on the temporal side and a conjunctival graft on the nasal side. This procedure not only reduced the size of the conjunctival graft excised, but also provided a similar condition to compare these two grafts for the treatment of recurrent pterygium. Ten months postoperatively, the pterygium recurred on the temporal side, but not on the nasal side.
