Abstract
To the Editor. —English medical literature has reported only a few cases of bilateral pheochromocytoma that have been accurately localized by computed tomography (CT). 1-3 We have read the article by Ganguly et al in the May 1979Archives(139:589-590). We would like to report a case of multiple endocrine adenomatosis, type 2, with bilateral adrenal pheochromocytoma, localized by CT. Report of a Case. —In May 1979, a 44-year-old man was referred to our hospital for a paroxysmal hypertension evaluation. Since 1974, the patient had suffered from flushing, palpitations, throbbing headaches, tremors, a feeling of tightness in the chest, and frequent bouts of diarrhea. In 1975, because of medullary thyroid carcinoma, a total thyroidectomy was performed in another hospital; in March 1979, a supraclavicular metastatic node was excised. Since 1978, the bouts of diarrhea had disappeared, but the patient then became constipated. Curiously, oral aspirin relieved him of his asthma
