Abstract

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the talus is a well-documented complication following fractures of the neck of the talus. Minor trauma and several medical conditions are also known to cause AVN. Iatrogenic AVN is caused by certain surgical procedures of the ankle and foot. AVN of the talus without a preceding cause is very rare. We wish to report a case of an idiopathic simultaneous bilateral AVN of talus, which, to our knowledge, has not been documented earlier in English literature and highlight the problems in treatment.
