Abstract

Repair of bilateral complete cleft palate is somewhat difficult (Salyer, Plast Reconstr Surg 118(1):193–204, 2006) as compared to repair of unilateral complete cleft palate. This particular patient had a very wide bilateral cleft palate. Vomer flap is divided in the midline and each side is used in reconstruction of nasal layer. Dissection of the nasal layer is done bilaterally with extreme caution to avoid any puncture or tears. Mucoperiosteal flaps are elevated and radical dissection of the pedicle is done on both sides to facilitate medial movements of both the mucoperiosteal flaps Levator dissection and retro-position at just anterior to the uvula helps in production of good voice.KeywordsBilateral complete cleft palate repairBardach’s two-flap palatoplasty
