Abstract
We present here, to our knowledge, the first case of a male patient with a sequential bilateral atypical femoral fracture associated with long-term use of bisphosphonates to treat glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis. Given the known effectiveness of bisphosphonates, both their use and the potential complication of rare atypical femoral fractures have increased. These fractures are understood to occur when there is an alteration in the bone quality and its resistance to fatigue fracture in a subgroup of patients receiving bisphosphonates or denosumab.
