Abstract
The aspiration of foreign bodies is not an uncommon event, though bilateral foreign body aspiration is very rare. Tracheoesophageal voice prostheses are used to enable alaryngeal speech, but the aspiration of these devices is a well-recognized risk of use. We report a case of bilateral foreign body aspiration, occurring in a patient who had received a second tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis after aspirating one of these devices then refusing bronchoscopic removal. Both voice prostheses were subsequently removed without incident using a flexible bronchoscope.
