Big data analysis for Chinese women academicians management

Abstract

Women are active in the field of scientific research today. A large number women scientific talents have made outstanding contributions to the progress of science and technology. Female academicians of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) stand as perfect examples of high-end female scientific talents. Taking female academicians as an example, some characteristics are quantitatively studied. The number of existing female academicians of CAS and CAE are 90, average proportion of women academicians is 5.6 percent. Most are over 80 years old, showing a tendency to aging. Nationally recognized age fluctuates around 59 years old. The elected number has increased a lot in 2015. 35 percent gathered in Life Science and Medicine faculty of CAS, and 39 percent concentrated in Faculty of Medicine Health of CAE. 86 percent concentrated in research institutes and universities. Chinese Academy of Science has most female academicians over the years. And then the basic situation of Chinese women academicians is shown.
