Abstract

The reactions of the phenylethynylchlorophosphine (2,6- tBu 2-4-MeC 6H 2O)P(Cl)(CCPh) (I) or the styrylchlorophosphine (2,4,6- tBu 3C 6H 2O)P(Cl)[(Ph)(H)CC(H)] (IV) with Li[Mo(η 5-C 5Me 5)(CO) 3] (II) in THF give bifunctionalized terminal phosphenium ion complexes of the type (R)(R′)PMo(η 5-C 5Me 5)(CO) 2 (III: R = 2,6- tBu 2-4-MeC 6H 2O, R′ = CCPh; V: R = 2,4,6- tBu 3C 6H 2O, R′ = (Ph)(H)CC(H)), which contain a trigonally planar coordinated phosphorus atom. Compounds III and V have been identified from analytical and spectroscopic (IR, 1H, 13C, 31P NMR) data. The molecular structure of [(2,6- tBu 2-4-MeC 6H 2O)(PhCC)]- PMo(η 5-C 5Me 5)(CO) 2 (III) has been determined by an X-Ray diffraction study.
